RAC/TRAC 2026

We are pleased to announce that the next joined Roman Archaeology Conference (RAC) and Theoretical Roman Archaeology Conference (TRAC) will be held in Aarhus, Denmark, in May 2026 at Aarhus University

Date: Thursday 21 May – Saturday 23 May 2026 (pre- and post-conference excursions will take place on 20 and 24 May 2026).

The event will feature a rich program of cutting-edge research presentations, thought-provoking discussions, and opportunities to connect with scholars and practitioners in Roman archaeology from around the world.

Further details, including the call for sessions, will be shared soon.

Aarhus University City Campus is located in the surroundings of Nobelparken, including the buildings of the Faculty of Arts, and the Museum of Ancient Art. Aarhus University also hosts the Centre for Urban Network Evolutions (UrbNet) exploring the evolution of urbanism and urban networks in the Ancient Mediterranean.

The pre- and post-conference excursions will visit Moesgaard Museum, with its magnificent Roman Iron Age finds from Illerup Ådal and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jelling, with its iconic runestones and burial mounds. The Museum of Ancient Art will be freely accessible at all times during the conference.
